Jueves, 19 de enero: Visita a Tarragona de Tyson

Today, Thursday, we had an excursion to Tarragona, a city with a lot of Roman history. At 8 in the morning, we got on the bus at school. The students from Josep Vallerdú didn’t come with us but we were accompanied by Teresa, Noemi, and Ramon, teachers from the school. Ramon is a history teacher. Tarragona wasn’t that far away. When we arrived, we first visited various important churches in the city.

Hoy, el jueves, tuvimos un excursión a Tarragona, una ciudad con mucha historia romana. A las ocho, embarcamos el autobús. Los estudiantes de Josep Vallverdú no nos acompañaron pero Teresa, Noemi y Ramon nos acompañaron. Ramon es un profesor de Historia en el instituto. Tarragona no fue muy lejos. Llegamos, y primero vimos algunas iglesias importantes en la ciudad.

Despues, Ramon nos explicó los cambios en estilos de arquitectura y las distintas capas de historia en la ciudad. El es muy inteligente. Caminamos un poco más, y vimos el acueducto antiguo. Parece que un puente, y ahora puedes caminar encima, pero es un acueducto, el sistema de agua para la ciudad.

Después, vimos el Circo de Tarraco y el Anfiteatro. Ramon, fue un guía para nosotros y explicó toda la historia de carros, gladiadores, ejecuciones y más.

Comimos almuerzo en un centro comercial y algunos chicos compraron cosas. Pienso que Pranav compró zapatos y Gracie y Patrick compraron bufandas del equipo FC Barcelona. A las cuatro, embarcamos el autobús a un otra parte de Tarragona. Había un escultura muy grande de torre humana. Aquí, Ramon nos explicó las tradiciones cada año y como se forma un torre humana. Hicimos muchas fotos y caminamos al mar. A las cinco y media, embarcamos el autobús otra vez a Cambrils, un pueblo para pescar. Caminamos en la playa y el pueblo.

Finalmente, embarcamos el autobús por última vez. No recuerdo que pasó porque estuve durmiendo. Llegamos al instituto, y el padre me condujo a la casa. Mis amigos Guillem y Albert estaban en práctica de fútbol pero ellos llegaron a casa también. A las nueve, toda la familia vimos el partido de Barcelona contra Real Sociedad durante cena. Barcelona ganó 1-0 y luego nosotros fuimos a dormir.

Later, Ramon explained to us the changes in architectural style and the different layers of history in the city…he’s pretty smart. We walked a little more and saw the ancient aqueduct of the Roman city. It seems like a bridge, and you can walk on it now, but it’s an aqueduct, the water system of the ancient city.

We ate lunch in a large shopping mall. Pranav bought shoes and Gracie and Patrick bought FC Barcelona scarves. At 4, we got on the bus and headed to a different part of Tarragona. There was a large sculpture of the iconic human tower. Ramon talked about the traditions behind the activity, and how the towers are formed. After taking a lot of photos, we walked to the water. At 5:30, once again we got on the bus to Cambrils, a fishing town. We walked on the beach and around the town.

Finally, we embarked the bus for the last time. I don’t remember what happened as I fell asleep in the back. We got back to the school around 8 and the father of the family I’m staying with drove me back to the house. My friends Albert and Guillem were at practice, but got back home just in time for all of us to watch Barcelona play Real Sociedad together at 9. Barcelona won 1-0, and we all went to sleep.
