5th Day - Friday 11th September by Guillem Prats

Hey! What's up?

Today, as every day since Thursday of last week, has been awesome. The school, the environment, the host's family, house and friends and my host and friend Will are fantastic!

Following I'm going to explain my day.

During the morning we have assisted in classes at Flint Hill School, the host's school.
However, some of us have gone to some Spanish classes to explain what is Catolonia and to help to improve Spanish to the American students. Then, we have had lunch at the school.

We at School's entrance
We explaining some facts about Catalonia

Moreover, some of us have gone to the other Flint Hill School, where there are the younger students, to help them to improve their Spanish.

We at Lower and Middle Campus of FHS
We speaking Spanish with some kids

After the school, every student has done something different. In my case, Will and I have met with some friends of him and we have watched a film. Then, we have been to an American Football match where we have had to wear white clothes to support Huskies, FHS team. On the match, there have been students of my high school too. The experience has been awesome!

We at American Football match! Huskies has won!

After that, I have had dinner with Will and his friends in a restaurant and then we have gone to Will's house to sleep because we were very tired.

I am sure tomorrow will be an incredible day too! Bye!

5th Day - Friday 11th September by Ferran Prats

Hi blog viewers! Now I am going to explain us what I have done today, 11th of september.

Today I wake up at 6:15 and, when I finished to change, I go to a restaurant to have breakfast with my exchange partner, called Jake Elmendorf. We have eaten pancakes and sausage and, then, we have gone to school. The classes are different in Catalonia, here they are more dynamic and participatory. I like how they are. We have done English, Physics and Maths, and the rest of time we have played the guitar and the piano.

In the afternoon we have gone to a football game! It has been fantastic.

I love this trip!

5th Day - Friday 11th September by Dana Maria Timar

Hi viewers! Today is 11th September, an important day for Catalonia since people want to be independent, but unfortunately we weren't there. Furthermore we had got the Catalan spirit inside us.
Moreover, it was the first day we went to Flint Hill School, all of us with a different family. So, firstly I woke up at 6 am in the morning as my partner Lauren had to go to the University of Richmond until Sunday morning and she had to be early there.
After I woke up Lauren's mum gave us some breakfast which we ate in the car since we didn't have enough time to do it at home,
When we had arrived at the big school Lauren took me with Lexy and I went with her and her partner Anna in all her classes.
This is the chill out room at school where students wait when they have a free hour. They go on studying or doing homework.

4th Day - Thursday 10th September by Anna Berent

Today is the 10th of September and it's the last day we're in New York. We have to get up earlier than the other days because we have to catch the subway first and the bus later. We have to be at 8:00 a.m. at the bus stop to go to Washington D.C.
When we arrived in Washington a Flint Hill school bus took us to the high school. In the high school we did a tour and we visited the Spanish classrooms in the languages hallway. At 15:30 we met our American partners. It was so exciting! Then all of us hugged our partner in this school exchange. It was thrilling!
In my case, it was one of the best days of my life. I met a really good girl and her family too. My partner is called Rachel Holland and she's 15 years old. She plays volleibol and I went to a volleibol match and the Flint Hill School won! When the match finished my family and I went to a Japanese restaurant. This was my first time in such place and the food was so delicious!
When we arrived at home we did the presentations and I tidied my luggage in the wardrobe. When I finished doing this I went downstairs and I talked for a while with all the family members.
The day ended and I was very glad because I'm with the best family that I can wish.

4th Day - Thursday 10th September by Mariona Guillamet

Today is the last day in New York, unfourtunately, it's a rainy day. We've got up early to do our lugagge and we've caught the subway to go to the bus stop where we had to take a bus to Washington D.C. After 5 hours we have arrived at our destination and Mrs. Piazza has received us very friendly. Then a Flint Hill School bus has taken us to the high school and the teacher have shown it to us. We have visited the Spanish classes and the teachers and students have asked us some questions like how  our trip in NY was, what we like the most or how many years we have been studying English. Then when the ring bell rang we have met our school exchange partners. It has been an exciting and happy moment. My partner, whose name is Maddie, is very nice and she has shown me the gym, the library, the sports fields... Then we have taken the bus with his brother and her grandma, the mother of his dad has caught us at the bus stop and she has taken us to their home. Their home is very nice and cute and I have meet the rest of the family, his two little sisters, his dad and the nanny. She has shown me the house and while she was doing her homework I have installed myself in my room in the basement. At 7 o'clock we have had dinner but before we have held our hands for a while and Maddie has said a prayer. We have eaten pasta, chicken and some strawberries. Everything was delicious!!
I have given them the present that I have brought from Catalonia (oil, almonds and a bracelet forMaddie) and they liked it a lot. Then we have gone to her room to speak and know more about each other. After a long day, we've had a shower and we has gone to sleep.

Taking the school bus

4th Day - Thursday 10th September by Nuria Guell

Today we got up at 6 AM because we had to take the bus very early. So we had a shower, cleaned our teeth, finished packing our luggage and went downstairs to the hall of the hotel. At 7 o'clock all of us were ready, so we left the hotel and went to pick the underground or subway as it is said here, to go to the bus station for the transfer to Washington DC. When we were there, we bought something to eat while our friends overlooked the luggage. It wasn't very comfortable because the weather was a bit cold and it was raining. At 8:30 a.m. we were inside the bus and going to Washington DC. It was a long trip... we didn't arrive until 1 p.m.! But the time seemed to ran so fast because we could sleep a lot (we didn't sleep too much that last night in NY) and we could talk to our families in Catalonia as there was free Wi-fi in the bus! When we arrived at Washington DC we waited for about 15 minutes and then a Flint Hill School teacher arrived with a school bus to take us there. So at 1:30 p.m. approximately we were at Flint Hill School. All of us were very nervous and excited to meet our partners and we couldn't wait longer. The teacher showed us the High School and at 2:30 p.m. when the classes finished, we finally met our partners! After a few minutes in the High School talking with everyone, we went home, we unpacked the luggage, we met our partner's family, they showed us the house and early we had dinner - I think it wasn't 8 p.m. yet and we had already eaten! After having dinner we had a shower, cleaned our teeth and at almost 9 p.m. we went to sleep, because we were really tired after that exciting day.

We were going into the school bus.

We were meeting our new friends.

3rd Day - Wednesday 9th September by Júlia Arbós

Today we've woken up at 8:00 o'clock, we have bought some breakfast and we have gone to rent 17 bikes to ride a bike along Central Park for an hour. Then we have walked around the park (not all the park because it's so huge), and we have seen a lake inside it that was so huge and beautiful. Inside the park we have seen the "love bridge" and the "John Lennon's place" that is a kind of place, like a mosaic with an inscription on the ground that says "Imagine", the name of his song talking about peace and it was full of flowers.
After all that we have gone to the 5th avenue, which is a street full of expensive shops, and there close to Times Square we have eaten a burger. Then we have taken a subway to Coney Island, the typical place where new yorkers used to go at the summer holidays as there is a long beach there. While travelling to that famous beach by subway, it started to rain heavily and as we were inside the train, no one got wet although there were big pools on the streets but soon the sun shone again, and once we arrived there, it stopped raining although we could see big floods everywhere in Coney Island. There we could visit an amusement arcade park with lots of rides and a beautiful beach full o birds. A man put a snake at the neck of one of our friends Biel and a reptile like a kind of iguana on the hands of another one, Dana. We have been to the first hot dog restaurant, the original one, the inventor Nathan's and some of the students ate there, but it was so expensive. (one hot dog 4.15$ = 3'72Euro).

After we've seen Coney Island we have gone on subway to the Rockefeller Center, which is like the rich zone of NYC where rich people were having dinner while they listening to the orchestra. There's a lot of expensive shops too. Then we have seen Saint Patricks cathedral and after that we've had some free time from 8:00 to 10:00 pm, so we've gone shopping (that have been in the Empire State 5th Avenue).
Finally we have gone to the Brooklyn bridge by night, but we were so tired so we've stayed there for a short time and we've gone to the hotel because tomorrow we're going to Virginia at 7:00 am to meet our families. We've enjoyed NYC so much and I hope some day I can go back there.
